Safer Gambling

Gambling is entertainment that costs money. It is not income, it is not a way out of financial trouble, and no strategy changes the mathematics of a casino game.

Signs worth taking seriously: betting more than you planned, chasing losses, borrowing to gamble, hiding it from people close to you, gambling to change how you feel rather than for fun, or feeling you cannot stop. If more than one of those is familiar, treat it as the signal it is.

Practical tools. Every operator we list offers deposit limits, session reminders, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion, and at all of them those settings are buried two or three levels into the account rather than offered at signup. Setting a deposit limit on your first day costs nothing and is the single most effective step available.

One limitation you should know about: self-exclusion at these operators is per-operator. It does not propagate across a national scheme the way GAMSTOP does in the United Kingdom or OASIS does in Germany. Excluding yourself from one site does not exclude you from the others, and several of them run on a shared platform.

Free confidential help exists in every European country. In the UK, GamCare runs the National Gambling Helpline free on 0808 8020 133, 24 hours a day. Gambling Therapy offers support internationally in multiple languages. Gamblers Anonymous has groups across Europe. None of these will judge you and none of them will cost you anything.
